Michael McNorvell

Michael is an M.S. student studying Forest Sciences. Interested in studying fire ecology from multiple landscape scales, his project focuses on post-fire fungal communities and their connections with soil hydrologic behavior and aboveground revegetation. He graduated from the University of Washington with a B.S. in Environmental Science and Terrestrial Resource Management. After several field seasons with the Harvey Lab (UW), he completed his honors senior thesis on tree-level mortality from fire in the west Cascades of Washington state. â€‹

When he isn’t conquering hills or climbing trees for science, Michael enjoys hiking good mountains, climbing good rocks, playing good music, and cooking good food for fun!
