Michael McNorvell
Michael is an M.S. student studying Forest Sciences. Interested in studying fire ecology from multiple landscape scales, his project focuses on post-fire fungal communities and their connections with soil hydrologic behavior and aboveground revegetation. He graduated from the University of Washington with a B.S. in Environmental Science and Terrestrial Resource Management. After several field seasons with the Harvey Lab (UW), he completed his honors senior thesis on tree-level mortality from fire in the west Cascades of Washington state.
When he isn’t conquering hills or climbing trees for science, Michael enjoys hiking good mountains, climbing good rocks, playing good music, and cooking good food for fun!
